About

Ms. Mackenzie has built a successful counseling career over the past 20 years, supporting mothers and families, people of all ages and genders, students, community professionals and fellow clinicians. Liv values a diverse professional focus, including the entrepreneurial life of a sole proprietor, the evaluative process of certifying foster/adoptive homes, the insightful and mindful one-on-one one work with enthusiastic clients, and serving as an advocate for underserved populations.

Liv is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a BA in Pre-Law and Economics from American University, an MA in Counseling from Adams State University, and a certificate in Human Resource Management from Villanova University. What truly ignited Liv’s clinical passion was a major life event in 2004: following the birth of her first child, she felt drawn to helping other new mothers. She quickly discovered that treating Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) was a specialty. She began traveling all over the country to receive training and has been working in that essential field ever since.

Liv continues her advanced clinical training from leading experts in the field and especially loves helping clients process trauma using EMDR and helping mothers. Her approach to wellness is based on the belief that we all have a unique ability to heal through our own inner knowing. When we pay attention to and process our true feelings, we have the opportunity to feel better and resolve pain. In this process, we acknowledge our true reality, giving ourselves and our hearts the attention we deserve in a safe, compassionate and supportive space.

Away from work you will find Liv spending time in nature, mushroom hunting, puttering in her garden, trying to make sourdough starter, biking to the farmer’s market and adventuring with her family.
